Taylor Swift's Bookshelf: Gothic Novels and YA Favorites

An all-time favourite, she told a Scholastic event. The oldest kind of reading on the shelf.

It has inspired lyrics of hers, and one summary calls John Green her favourite author. Expect to find it in her songwriting.

Swift was drawn to a heroine who keeps being herself through the teasing until others follow her lead.

A memoir of self-discovery, and the one nonfiction title here. She said she loved it at a Scholastic event.

She reportedly finished the first book in about two days before writing Safe & Sound for the film.

She read it in fifth grade and said it blew her mind. Years later she took a role in the film.

Swift says it changed how she saw the world. That's a large claim, and she made it.

She read it, then wrote Carolina for the film adaptation. The song is the direct link.

She admires how Fitzgerald ties vivid scenes to emotional revelation. Read it with that in mind.
