Career & Background
Born on July 17, 1976, in Cleveland, Ohio, Brian Keller Vaughan attended New York University to study filmmaking. While enrolled at NYU, he broke into the comic book industry after editors from Marvel Comics visited the university and reviewed his writing submissions. Vaughan quickly began writing scripts for major superhero titles across both Marvel and DC Comics, including stories featuring Batman and the X-Men.
Vaughan later shifted his primary focus toward creator-owned series, earning wide critical recognition for original titles such as Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, and Pride of Baghdad. In addition to his graphic fiction, he served as a writer, story editor, and producer on the television series Lost during seasons three through five, earning Writers Guild of America Award nominations in 2008 and 2009 for Best Dramatic Series. He lives in California, where he continues to write comic books and work on television projects.
