Set in the world of The Bridge Kingdom series, The Calm Before the Storm is six chapters of extra content that take place after the events of The Traitor Queen and The Inadequate Heir.
Ithicana has been liberated from the Maridrinians, but not everyone holds peace in their hearts. Revered by some as a savior and despised by others as a curse upon the kingdom, Lara must navigate treacherous waters as she resumes rule alongside her husband, Aren. Her only certainty is the bond between them, but long overdue conversations will put the strength of their marriage to the test. They must decide what their future will hold, all while dark clouds gather in the south. A storm that no nation, not even the Bridge Kingdom, will escape unscathed.
These bonus chapters are now included in the back of the U.S. & Canada ebook & paperback editions of The Inadequate Heir, and will soon be included in the UK & international language editions.

High-stakes fantasy realms filled with political intrigue, dangerous magic, and romantic tension form the core of the popular fantasy series The Bridge Kingdom. Canadian author Danielle L. Jensen has established a widespread international readership through her multi-series fantasy bibliography, which includes the Norse-inspired Saga of the Unfated and the dark fantasy world of Dark Shores.
Danielle L. Jensen debuted as an author with the Malediction series before reaching major bestseller lists with The Bridge Kingdom and subsequent releases. Her expansive bibliography includes major multi-book arcs such as The Bridge Kingdom, The Traitor Queen, The Inadequate Heir, The Endless War, The Twisted Throne, and The Tempest Blade, alongside the prequel The Calm Before the Storm. Her novels have been translated into more than twenty languages for international audiences, appearing in localized editions like Le Pont des Tempêtes, La Reine traîtresse, Królestwo Mostu, El reino del puente, De koningin van verraad, Der Schwur der Spionin, L'Héritier Insoumis, and Princezna klamu. Jensen currently resides in Calgary, Alberta, with her family and her guinea pigs.
Jensen's narrative style features fast-paced plotting, intricate political espionage, and worldbuilding centered around warring kingdoms and conflicting loyalties. Although retailers and online book communities frequently categorize her work under the fantasy romance banner, Jensen focuses on balancing high-stakes epic fantasy conflict with character relationships. Her Norse-inspired series Saga of the Unfated, starting with A Fate Inked in Blood and continuing with A Curse Carved in Bone, highlights her interest in shield maidens, lethal prophecies, and complex bargains.
