Hunting Adeline,

Dark eroticism and romantic suspense defined by intense, psychological tension mark the high-stakes fiction of the Cat and Mouse series, anchored by the bestselling novel Haunting Adeline. With international sales and frequent placements on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists, Carlton has built a dedicated global readership drawn to unpredictable plots, atmospheric mystery, and complex antiheroes.

Career & Background

Born Hailey Danielle Carlton on September 27, 1996, the author began her creative path writing poetry during her youth. She eventually transformed her early poetic work into narrative prose, expanding her writing into full-length novels focused on intense erotic suspense and dark romance fiction.

Carlton resides in Oregon with her husband, two dogs, a cat, and a lighthearted ongoing reference to Bigfoot. Outside of crafting stories, she enjoys watching paranormal television shows and holds a playful fondness for mermaids. Her career gained significant global traction through independent publishing and viral word-of-mouth discovery, establishing her as a prominent figure in dark romantic fiction.

Writing Style & Themes

Carlton's signature style centers on crafting morally gray characters, dynamic pacing, and high-stakes conflict, frequently reminding readers to check their sanity at the door before diving into her stories. Her narratives deliberately reject traditional hero archetypes in favor of flawed, dangerous, and unpredictable protagonists.

Her stories frequently explore survival, obsession, trauma recovery, vigilante justice, and dark eroticism. Rather than shying away from heavy or uncomfortable topics, Carlton builds high-tension worlds where characters must navigate extreme physical and emotional circumstances.
