The science is a door, not a lecture: many-worlds quantum mechanics gets gestured at, then the plot sprints. Publishers Weekly praised the characterization; readers are split on whether the family at its center feels real. The family drama either carries the emotional weight or feels like a device to motivate the chase. What sticks is the premise: a man confronted with the life he didn't choose.
