Career & Background

Fonda Lee was born on March 10, 1979, and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She earned an MBA from Stanford University and worked as a corporate strategist and management consultant before transitioning to full-time writing. Lee attended the Viable Paradise writing workshop in 2014 and published her debut young adult science fiction novel, Zeroboxer, in 2015, which was selected as a finalist for the Andre Norton Award.

Following her debut, Lee expanded her science fiction bibliography with the Exo duology, comprising Exo and Cross Fire. In 2017, she published Jade City, launching The Green Bone Saga, which also includes the sequel novels Jade War and Jade Legacy, the prequel novella The Jade Setter of Janloon, and the short story collection Jade Shards. Lee holds black belts in karate and kung fu, and currently resides in Portland, Oregon. Her recent works include the standalone fantasy novella Untethered Sky, the science fiction novel The Last Contract of Isako, and Breath of the Dragon, co-written with Shannon Lee.
