Sutton Spencer’s ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. Contemporary sapphic romance fiction features character-driven stories centered on long-lasting emotional connections and personal growth. Haley Cass established her presence in the genre with her debut novel Those Who Wait, building a dedicated reader following across digital, paperback, and audiobook formats.
Cass resides in Massachusetts with her wife and their dog. Her passion for storytelling began in childhood when she wrote early creative pieces. She eventually transitioned from writing fanfiction—including an initial concept that became her debut novel Those Who Wait—to publishing original romance books. Following her debut, she expanded her work with follow-up titles and standalone releases, including Forever and a Day: A Those Who Wait Story, Down to a Science, On the Same Page, In the Long Run, and The Next Chapters: An On the Same Page Novella. Her releases have frequently reached top sales positions in Lesbian Fiction and Lesbian Romance categories.
A central focus of Cass's writing is crafting narratives where characters navigate complex relationship dynamics to build enduring love. She frequently emphasizes emotional angst, particularly surrounding breakups and their aftermath, as a vehicle for character development and overcoming personal fears. Her storytelling also reflects a background in analyzing contemporary television narratives and romance conventions to structure detailed character arcs.
