This book is AWESOME.
A story of a man fighting to free himself from dystopia as in Brave New World and 1984. However, the story is much tighter and exciting than in either of these books. Many twists and turns, all the way to the end.
You are in good hands with Ira Levin. He's a master storyteller and a sure hand at suspense, character and dialogue.
Enjoy.

Mastering high-concept suspense that seamlessly crossed horror, psychological thriller, science fiction, and stage drama, mid-century fiction produced enduring cultural touchstones such as Rosemary's Baby. Author Ira Levin constructed tightly plotted narratives that examined suburban anxieties, psychological paranoia, and technological control, achieving widespread popular success across both literature and theater.
Born in New York City in 1929, Ira Levin attended the Horace Mann School and studied at Drake University before transferring to New York University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and English in 1950. He began his career writing television plays and short stories before publishing his debut novel, A Kiss Before Dying, at the age of twenty-two. After serving two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1953 to 1955, Levin turned his focus to playwriting. His stage adaptation of Mac Hyman's novel No Time for Sergeants became his most successful early theatrical work, though his personal favorite was the Broadway musical Drat! The Cat!, for which he wrote the book and lyrics. After its early closing prompted his return to prose writing, he produced the diabolical horror classic Rosemary's Baby. Levin continued to write both novels and plays while residing in Manhattan, where he raised three sons. His later works included the play Dr. Cook's Garden—filmed by Paramount Pictures in 1971—and the long-running Broadway thriller Deathtrap.
Levin's writing is characterized by economical prose, precise plotting, and a distinct balance of satirical wit and creeping dread. Across crime fiction, horror, and dystopian science fiction, his narratives frequently explore themes of personal isolation, secret societal manipulation, and systemic control. Works such as The Stepford Wives and This Perfect Day demonstrate his ability to unveil sinister forces operating just beneath the surface of modern, orderly communities. His skill in building tension within everyday settings earned him multiple Edgar Awards, the Prometheus Hall of Fame Award, and the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1996.
