For Larissa, that decision came when choosing who to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea she’d met the perfect man. She and Chris are great friends, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy.
But she didn’t choose Chris to drive her home all those months ago—she went with his best friend, and he became her boyfriend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else. How can something that feels so right be absolutely impossible?

Contemporary romantic comedy novels frequently combine witty banter, emotional depth, and realistic personal struggles, a narrative style exemplified in bestselling books such as Part of Your World and Just for the Summer. Abby Jimenez is a No. 1 New York Times bestselling American romance novelist and Food Network champion who brings a distinct blend of humor and empathy to contemporary fiction. Residing in Minnesota, she has sold over 1.5 million books while enjoying coffee, doglets, romance stories, and spending time at home.
Before establishing her literary career, Jimenez built a successful business in baking. After being laid off from a retail position, she founded Nadia Cakes out of her home kitchen in 2007 using original cake recipes and basic decorating training. Her home business expanded into retail bakeries across California and Minnesota, including locations in Maple Grove, Woodbury, and Palmdale. The bakery gained national prominence after winning Food Network's Cupcake Wars in 2013 and appearing on TLC's Fabulous Cakes, building an international fanbase. Jimenez later turned to writing romance novels, drawing ongoing creative inspiration for her male protagonists from her husband and business partner.
Jimenez's writing is characterized by authentic dialogue, emotional vulnerability, and humorous character interaction balanced against meaningful real-world challenges. Setting several of her narratives in Minnesota locations like Lake Minnetonka, Ely, and the Root River, she grounds her romance series in vivid regional settings. Her stories showcase compassionate heroes and resilient lead characters navigating family dynamics, grief, and career transitions while building strong emotional connections.
