The Goblin Emperor won the 2015 Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel and was a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy awards. Addison returned to its world in the Cemeteries of Amalo sequence: The Witness for the Dead, The Grief of Stones, and The Tomb of Dragons. She also wrote the alternate-Victorian fantasy The Angel of the Crows and the novella The Orb of Cairado.

Writing as Sarah Monette, she is also the author of the Doctrine of Labyrinths novels, short-fiction collections, and the Iskryne trilogy with Elizabeth Bear. She lives near Madison, Wisconsin.
