God, I want to kiss her. I want to feel the heat of her lips against mine. Would she want that? Would she melt against me if she did? Or would the tension I feel between us snap and release something feral inside her? Inside me?
Doctor Fionn Kane is running from a broken heart, one he hopes to mend in small-town Nebraska, far away from his almost-fiancé and his derailed surgical career. It’s a simpler life: head down, work hard, and absolutely no romantic relationships. He wants none of the circus he left behind in Boston.
But then the Silveria Circus finds him.
Motorcycle performer Rose Evans has spent a decade on the road with Silveria, and it suits her just fine, especially when she has the urge to indulge in a little murder and mayhem when she’s not in the spotlight. But when a kill goes awry and she ends up with a broken leg, she finds herself stuck in Nebraska at the home of the adorably nerdy town doctor.
The problem is, not every broken heart can be sewn back together.
. . . And the longer you stay in one place, the more likely your ghosts are to catch up.die

Blending dark comedy, romantic suspense, and horror elements, dark romance novels have reached massive global audiences through viral reader recommendations and bestselling series such as the Ruinous Love Trilogy. Author Brynne Weaver gained international prominence with her 2023 novel Butcher & Blackbird, which introduced a unique combination of irreverent humor, serial-killer lore, and romantic intrigue.
With over five million copies sold worldwide across more than twenty-five countries, Weaver has established a major presence in contemporary genre fiction. Her stories center on high-stakes emotional dynamics, dark comedic timing, and deeply human vulnerabilities across both standalone titles and multi-book romantic arcs.
Weaver began writing during early childhood and completed several full-length manuscript drafts by hand as a teenager. Before turning to publishing full-time, her background encompassed work in neuroscience laboratories, where her curiosity regarding forensics and human behavior began to inform her narrative concepts. In 2021, she published her debut fantasy romance, The Diviner, before launching her paranormal dark romantic comedy series, the Shadow Realm trilogy, starting with A Shadow In The Reaping. She subsequently co-authored two standalone novels, Black Sheep and Marrow, expanding her scope across dark romance and horror-infused subgenres.
Her mainstream breakthrough arrived in 2023 with the release of Butcher & Blackbird, the opening entry in her Ruinous Love Trilogy. The novel achieved viral popularity on BookTok and climbed international bestseller lists. She followed this success with the 2024 sequel Leather & Lark, which debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list, and concluded the trilogy in 2025 with Scythe & Sparrow. Weaver continues to expand her catalog with further projects, including Harvest Season.
Weaver's writing style is defined by a distinct combination of sharp humor, visceral suspense, and intense romantic tension. A primary goal in her creative work is crafting female-focused stories about complex, resilient, imperfect characters who struggle with anger, trauma, fear, courage, and love. Drawing on her interest in horror, dark comedies, and behavioral science, she builds narratives where morally ambiguous protagonists navigate severe personal trauma and physical danger while developing profound emotional connections.
