From bestselling indie author Laura Thalassa comes the newly revised and edited first book in her smash-hit dark fantasy romance between a siren and the “bargainer” she owes countless favors to.
Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past.
For the last seven years Callie has been wearing a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she once received. Only death or repayment will fulfill her obligations.
Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He’s a man who can get you anything you want … at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for Callie, he’s never asked for repayment. Not until now.
When Callie finds the Bargainer in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it’s admitting a truth—a single bead’s worth—acknowledging the attraction between them. But the Bargainer is after more than just rekindling their connection. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one, and only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to her breast.
For the Bargainer to save his people, he’ll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. If she can forgive him.

Combining dark fantasy, mythology, and romance, speculative fiction frequently explores intense bonds forged between mortal protagonists and powerful supernatural beings. Author Laura Thalassa has written over a dozen novels across fantasy romance, paranormal romance, and post-apocalyptic fiction, establishing a notable body of work that includes the USA Today bestselling Bewitched series and The Four Horsemen series. Her books blend high-stakes mythical danger with emotional tension, offering expansive world-building populated by strong-willed heroines and complex antiheroes.
Born and raised in Fresno, California, Thalassa developed a passion for storytelling early in life, spending much of her childhood inventing fantastic tales alongside her best friend. Having fallen in love with stories as a child, she decided she never wanted to escape them, eventually turning her imaginative childhood hobby into a full-time authorial career. Although she has written post-apocalyptic series, paranormal romance remains her foundational interest and primary artistic passion, serving as the genre that originally drew her into reading. Today, Thalassa lives in sunny Santa Barbara in southern California with her husband, author Dan Rix, and their children. When she is not writing, she can be found reading about lost civilizations, exploring hiking trails, relaxing at the beach, splashing with her kids in the Pacific Ocean, and hoarding chocolate for the apocalypse.
Thalassa's writing style is characterized by fast-paced plotting, immersive supernatural lore, and central relationships grounded in high-stakes conflict. Her narratives consistently feature strong-willed female leads who must navigate challenging circumstances where personal duty directly clashes with dark desire. Whether portraying ancient sorcerers, immortal bargainers, or apocalyptic figures, her work emphasizes dynamic character interactions, indulge-worthy romantic tropes, and perilous atmospheric settings.
