Pig Wife,

Accidentally trapped in an underground bunker, a teen girl must navigate the bizarre secrets within. This astonishing indie-horror graphic novel will keep readers guessing--and turning pages! Mary had a bad feeling about this even before they arrived at Aunt Pearl's house. No rebellious 14-year-old wants to get dragged along by her mom and stepdad to settle some estranged aunt's estate in a rural mining town. The house is a creepy, crumbling dump, and her stepdad is being an even bigger jerk than usual. Mary longs to escape her dysfunctional family--but she's stuck with them in the middle of nowhere. After a family fight ends in violence, Mary flees and hides in an abandoned gold mine. Her escape plan backfires when she realizes she's trapped inside. Things get even more bizarre when she discovers...she's not alone. Full of suspense and dark humor, Pig Wife is a remarkably ambitious debut for graphic novelist Abbey Luck, spanning every possible emotion in a gripping story of isolation, abuse, trauma, and survival. A truly twisted coming-of-age tale, Pig Wife suggests that survival doesn't depend on our strength and wits alone--but on our ability to love others.
