Chicago hockey isn’t complete without me—everyone’s favorite player to hate. I know my role, and I play it well. In fact, I thoroughly enjoy spending the majority of my game time in the penalty box before leaving the arena with a new girl on my arm each night.
What I don’t like is the new flight attendant on our team’s private plane. She works for me, not the other way around. But I’ll be sure to remind her of that, and I can guarantee, by the end of the season, she’ll be begging to quit her job.
But every road trip blurs the lines, and I can’t quite figure out if I keep pushing that flight attendant call button in order to push her buttons or if it’s more than that.

I’ve been a flight attendant for years. I thought I’d see it all, but when my new job lands me onboard working for the most egotistical and self-righteous diva in the NHL, I start to second guess everything. Including the promise I made to myself of never hooking up with an athlete again…no matter how annoyingly tempting he may be.
Evan Zanders is unfiltered, unapologetic, and too attractive for his own good. He loves his image, but I hate everything about it.
Everything but him.

Author Liz Tomforde stepped into contemporary romance writing with a focus on sports-centered narratives, blending workplace environments, found family themes, and playful banter with grounded personal conflicts. Her debut novel Mile High launched her career in contemporary sports romance, introducing readers to believable character growth alongside high-energy romance.
With books like The Right Move, Caught Up, Play Along, and Rewind It Back, Tomforde's popular series explores the personal lives and romantic pursuits of professional athletes and the women who cross their paths, securing prominent positions on major bestseller lists including the New York Times and USA Today.
Born and raised in Northern California as the youngest of five children, Tomforde developed an early passion for sports, romance novels, travel, and hockey. Before transitioning into full-time writing, she worked professionally as a flight attendant for a National Hockey League (NHL) team, a role that allowed her to combine her interest in aviation and professional athletics. In 2020, when the global pandemic resulted in the postponement of the hockey season, Tomforde utilized her unexpected free time to begin drafting her first novel.
Living in her hometown in Sonoma County, California, Tomforde balances her writing career with her personal interests. When not crafting contemporary novels, she spends time traveling, listening to audiobooks, reading, and taking her Golden Retriever, Luke, on hikes through the Northern California landscape. Her firsthand experiences with professional sports teams and travel culture continue to directly inform her setting details and character interactions.
Tomforde's writing is characterized by its emphasis on realistic, healthy emotional communication within romantic relationships. Her narratives frequently highlight strong heroines alongside male protagonists who combine outer confidence with emotional vulnerability. Essential thematic elements across her books include witty banter, undeniable chemistry, found family dynamics, and explicit romantic spice, while grounding the romantic progression in real-life struggles, personal growth, and mutual accountability.
