"Working a dead-end job, with her relationship sputtering, she jumps at the opportunity, expecting to help out around the house in exchange. What she doesn’t anticipate is for her heart to race every time Pike pulls into the driveway, or to burn when their eyes meet over the breakfast table. He’s kind and listens to her and protects her in a way no man ever has before. Her sister once told her there are no good men, and if you find one, he's probably unavailable. Only Pike isn't the unavailable one…she is.
As the days go by, Pike’s finding it anything but simple to have his son’s girlfriend living in his house. He can’t stop thinking about her and holding his breath every time they cross paths. It feels like she’s becoming a part of him. Except he knows they’re not free to give in to this. How could they when he’s her boyfriend’s father?"-- Provided by Amazon

Dark romance narratives exploring intense relationships, taboo emotional boundaries, and high-stakes personal drama define a wide body of popular contemporary fiction. Penelope Douglas became a widely read presence across the genre through bestselling releases such as Bully and Corrupt, building a vast international readership with stories that push conventional boundaries.
Her works have achieved spot rankings on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists and have been translated into up to twenty languages worldwide.
Born in Dubuque, Iowa, as the eldest of five children, Douglas initially pursued higher education outside of creative writing. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Northern Iowa before completing a Master of Science in Education at Loyola University New Orleans. Following her graduate studies, she spent approximately eight years working as an elementary school teacher. Seeking a creative outlet and an escape from her daily teaching routine, she re-engaged with reading and eventually turned to writing her own novels.
Douglas specializes in dark romance, new adult fiction, contemporary romance, and romantic suspense. Her stories frequently incorporate taboo elements, enemies-to-lovers dynamics, forbidden attractions, and intense emotional conflict. She actively explores themes where characters step outside their comfort zones, navigating moral ambiguity, complex family secrets, and intense personal rivalries.
