Psychological thrillers constructed around complex secrets, dual perspectives, and deceptive memory have become a hallmark of contemporary mystery writing, notably showcased in Sometimes I Lie. British novelist Alice Feeney established her signature style with suspenseful narratives that challenge reader perceptions and unravel hidden motives. Her works have been translated into forty languages and optioned for major screen adaptations worldwide.
Born in Essex in 1978, Alice Feeney spent fifteen years working as a BBC news editor, reporter, and producer under the name Alison Feeney-Hart, contributing to programmes such as the One O'clock News as well as arts and entertainment coverage. At age thirty, while commuting to her journalism job, she began writing her debut novel Sometimes I Lie and completed the Faber Academy writing course. After living in London and Sydney, she settled in the English countryside to write full-time.
Feeney's thrillers are characterized by unreliable narrators, shifting points of view, and intricate plot twists that reframe earlier events. Her background in broadcast news informs her direct prose and tight narrative pacing, while her stories frequently explore themes of marital deception, forgotten trauma, and the volatile nature of trust between close relatives and partners.
