Fans have long wondered what happened to Ahsoka after she left the Jedi Order near the end of the Clone Wars, and before she re-appeared as the mysterious Rebel operative Fulcrum in Rebels.

But her desire to fight the evils of the Empire and protect those who need it will lead her right to Bail Organa, and the Rebel Alliance?.

§About the Author

E. K. Johnston

1 books in catalog

Young adult literature and speculative fiction encompass a broad spectrum of storytelling, ranging from grounded real-world settings to expansive media tie-in universes. E. K. Johnston is a Canadian author who has built a versatile bibliography spanning original contemporary fantasy, mythic retellings, and canonical tie-ins for major franchises, including the young adult novel Ahsoka.

Before publishing her debut fiction, Johnston worked several jobs alongside her vocation in forensic archaeology, learning early on that things turn out weird sometimes and that there is not a lot you can do about it. Her narrative range moves seamlessly from quiet epics and fairy-tale reimaginings to stories rooted in small-town Ontario and far-reaching galaxian adventures.

Career & Background

Raised in Huron East, Ontario, Emily Kate Johnston trained as a forensic archaeologist and worked as a bookseller while developing her writing. She began writing online fan fiction in 2002, a formative period that taught her how to muscle through awkward fanfic for the sake of pairings she liked. She completed her first original manuscript in 2009 and made her professional book debut in 2014 with The Story of Owen: Dragon Slayer of Trondheim, an alternate-history fantasy set in contemporary Canada.

Her debut novel earned major critical recognition as a William C. Morris Award finalist and a Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist. Johnston continued her success with A Thousand Nights, which was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award, and expanded into contemporary young adult fiction with Exit, Pursued by a Bear. In addition to original works like Prairie Fire and Spindle, Johnston has written high-profile franchise fiction, including Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The Druid's Call and multiple Star Wars titles. She maintains an active online presence at ekjohnston.ca, sharing insights into her creative process, pretty pictures, and her Dragon Age choices.

Writing Style & Themes

Johnston's bibliography is defined by a refusal to stay within rigid category boundaries, moving between hopeful science fiction, dark mythic reimaginings, and intimate contemporary drama. Whether detailing dragon management in modern North America or character-driven journeys in a galaxy far, far away, her writing emphasizes resilience, friendship, and practical agency. Having balanced multiple careers before establishing her literary path, Johnston approaches storytelling with clear-eyed humor and has no plans to rein anything in.
