Career & Background

Born in Niigata, Japan, in 1977, Takeda began her professional career at age twenty as a 3D CGI designer for Sega Corp., where she rendered graphics for soccer and NBA video games. At age twenty-five, she transitioned into freelance illustration. After submitting her portfolio to Marvel Comics editor C. B. Cebulski, she secured artwork assignments on prominent comic titles, including X-Men, Venom, and X-23. Her work on X-23 with writer Marjorie Liu established a creative partnership that led to their co-creation of Monstress for Image Comics. In addition to her comic book projects, she creates illustrations for video games and children's books while residing in Tokyo.
