Born on July 7, 1983, in Seoul, South Korea, Ahdieh spent the earliest years of her childhood living in a South Korean high-rise before her family moved to the United States. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she completed her undergraduate degree. Ahdieh launched her publishing career in 2015 with The Wrath and the Dawn, followed by its companion novel The Rose and the Dagger. She expanded her literary repertoire with the feudal Japan-inspired Flame in the Mist series and The Beautiful quartet set in 1870s New Orleans, alongside the picture book Emilio Sloth's Modern Manners and her debut adult novel, Park Avenue. She currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her family.
