Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on March 28, 1977, Weisberger spent her youth in Allentown and graduated from Parkland High School in 1995. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cornell University in 1999 before traveling extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Upon moving to New York City, she worked as personal assistant to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and later worked as a writer and editor for Departures magazine.
Drawing from her time in the magazine industry, Weisberger published her debut novel, The Devil Wears Prada, in 2003. The book became an international success, translated into forty languages, and was adapted into a 2006 feature film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, as well as a London West End musical with music by Elton John.
