Career & Background

Holly Gramazio was raised in Adelaide, South Australia, where she completed a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Adelaide. A chance encounter with a misplaced book in an Adelaide secondhand shop inspired her early interest in game design and choice-based storytelling. After completing her doctorate, she relocated to London, where she established herself as an experimental game designer, scriptwriter, and curator.

In London, Gramazio founded and directed Now Play This, an experimental games festival that formed part of the London Games Festival. She wrote the script for the award-winning indie video game Dicey Dungeons and collaborated on projects such as Lawrence Lek's exhibition NOX and the pandemic essay zine New Rules. Her literary career expanded significantly with the release of her debut novel, The Husbands, in April 2024.
