Career & Background

Felix Blackwell was raised in Orange County, California, and later relocated to Santa Rosa. His early exposure to storytelling came from watching his mother, a lifelong writer, which prompted him to begin writing poetry and flash fiction around seven years old. A formative moment occurred in fifth grade when a two-page creative writing assignment turned into a twenty-five-page fantasy story. Between 2006 and 2009, he expanded his creative pursuits by writing an unpublished video game script.

While browsing Reddit's NoSleep community, Blackwell submitted a horror narrative based on his fiancée's sleep disorder. The positive reader response led to a successful crowdfunding project that doubled its initial goal, enabling him to adapt his serialized posts into the novel Stolen Tongues and write its prequel, The Church Beneath the Roots. He has since retired from writing due to health reasons.
