Career & Background
Born on September 26, 1984, in Trumbull, Connecticut, Espach developed an early passion for fiction before earning her undergraduate degree from Providence College in 2007 and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Washington University in St. Louis. She launched her novelistic career with The Adults in 2011, which earned selection as a New York Times Editor's Choice and a Barnes & Noble Discover pick. Espach has been awarded residencies at the Ucross Foundation for the Arts, Millay Arts, The Wassaic Project, the Cuttyhunk Writers Residency, and the San Miguel Literary Sala. In addition to writing novels, she serves as a professor of English teaching creative writing at Providence College in Rhode Island, and her essays and prose have appeared in Vogue, McSweeney's, Outside Magazine, LitHub, and Joyland.
