Career & Background
Born on February 27, 1987, in Phoenix, Arizona, Alexandra Bracken grew up immersed in pop culture as the daughter of a Star Wars collector. Attending an endless sequence of Star Wars conventions and toy fairs during her childhood ignited her imagination and fostered an early devotion to reading. After graduating from Chaparral High School, she attended The College of William & Mary in Virginia, double majoring in English and History. As a college senior, she sold her debut fantasy novel, Brightly Woven, which was published in 2010.
Following graduation, Bracken relocated to New York City to work in children's book publishing, spending six years building her career first as an editorial assistant and later in marketing. This industry background provided her with insight into book production and promotion while she continued writing her own fiction. After six years balancing publishing work with writing, she chose to write full-time. She eventually returned to her home state of Arizona, where she lives with her dog, Tennyson, in a home filled with books.
